….came to Ocean Isle Beach again this year, and what an amazing time it was! Could not have asked for better weather or for bigger crowds! By the time early evening came around, you could barely find your way into Inlet View Restaurant and outside there was nary a spot available along the shore of the waterway. As you will see from the video and photos, the decorated boats were nothing less than spectacular. One of the most amazing boats was the tribute to Paris with one of the boats decorated as the Eiffel Tower.
If you’ve never experienced the Christmas Flotilla, you owe it to yourself to plan to attend the next one. They are held each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and they begin on the Shallotte River and the Intracoastal Waterway at the Inlet View Restaurant. The boast continue down the waterway towards Ocean Isle where they turn into the inlet just before the bridge and parade through the inlet where they parade in front of the throngs of fans at Sharky’s and the OIFC Fishing Center. There are many paces to view the Flotilla. You can watch the start at the Inlet View….come early and set your chairs/blankets, etc ont the shore of the waterway. Have a snack or lunch or dinner at the View (don’t forget…it’s their last weekend open until February!). Once all the boats have passed, you can drive over to Sharky’s to watch the finish. Be aware though…it’s going to be a mob scene…and sooooo much fun! If you prefer to just watch the finish, get over to Sharky’s very early in the evening so you’ll stand a chance to get a great seat on the back deck. However you do it….get out to start your Christmas season off in style!
