The Failure of Renourishment

It was a bit disheartening to see the video below come up in my memories on FB this morning but it just reemphasizes that we need to be one with Nature and not try to out duel Her for our own personal gain. Sad to say…we will keep on building and building far to close to the ocean’s edge for the sole purpose of satisfying our conspicuous consumption…fearless and blind to what the ultimate outcome may (will) be. For those of you who weren’t around to experience this…this video was taken just a few months after the massive $42M renourishment project on the east end of Ocean Isle. You can read and see more about that project by clicking here.

Fascinating to watch Mother take back what we did to try and fool her. Watch as the sunrise King high tide this morning breaks over the high tide 'shelf' and pulls back some of the 800K cubic yards of sand that was brought up from the waterway bottom in order to renourish the beach. Label that project…. #epicfail.
